SMS Gateway functionality

SMS Gateways are connected to carriers networks on the one side, and software applications on the other side.

A request that contains a message and a phone number can be submitted to a gateway (through its API), and the gateway will find the country and carrier network associated with the phone number. The message is then passed to the respective carrier and sent on to the recipient’s phone number.

What is a mobile short code and how does it relate to an SMS Gateway?

In order to send or receive messages to and from cell phones, carriers use a phone number which is called short code (because it is usually a 5-6 digit number).

To run any mobile program, you need to use a mobile short code. CellTrust will assist you to utilize an existing short code or to provision a new one.
